Kivalliq Arctic Foods has been operating in Rankin Inlet since October 1992. The plant employs 8 full-time and 8 seasonal part-time people from the community.
The facility prepares Arctic char for distribution nationally and internationally. As well, federally inspected caribou meat is processed here. Both these species are harvested from the wild ensuring the utmost purity and quality.
This facility received federal certification in 1995 and maintains this certification today. The plant received European Union certification in August 2001.
